Hydraulic roller lifter preload

-
Depends on what you are doing with it.

I set mine with 1/4 turn of preload, when spinning them up hard on RPM. Others put a lot more preload into them for street rpm use.

What spring pressures do you run?

LOL They were some type of beehive on one. Went 6400, had some valve train issues and likely needed a correction kit. Eddy heads and crane 1.6 rockers.
I honestly don't remember... blame the heart drugs! :)

Stock roller lifters have a very wide range. I’ve heard .015-.090 quoted all over the place, from Hughes to comp to Chrysler etc. the plunger has a LOT of travel. Doesn’t really matter where you set them is the opinion I’ve reached. I set em close to the top, IE 1/4 turn from zero. But you could probably set em 1/4 to 2 turns and see no difference in operation on a street car.

I've also heard stock mags were set at close to .090.
Springs and oil pressure will matter.
I've set them .030 on fresh performance builds I've done at 150/340 lbs, and up to .090 on top end upgrade deals on stock short blocks in trucks with 135/250 lbs stock magnum cam.

If you set them .090 with heavy Springs and an old tired bottom end with a worn out oil pump, you can end up running it solid lifter style when they bottom out LOL
