If it really worked, Jack would still be driving it. I would think the investment in solar cells would buy a car or two. Nothing was said about compressing the hydrogen gas for storage. Where does that energy come from? Nothing said about the significant drop in performance from the low BTU hydrogen fuel.
Using the solar cell energy to charge batteries for an electric car is most likely more efficient.
Hydrogen car:
Typical solar cell efficiency 15% of solar power to electric.
Splitting water with electricity about 80% efficient
Internal combustion engine 25-30% efficient
Total efficiency 3%
Compressing the Hydrogen ? Other losses in drive train ....
