Or in this case, a WWII legend. I'd heard, here and there about jungle bound Japanese soldiers who thought the war had not ended, but tonight on "thee news" they announced the death of a Japanese soldier who had been discovered.............still wanting to fight...........in NINETEEN SEVENTY FOUR

Ive heard that story. There was another Japanese soldier on Guam who had been in hiding until the mid 90's.. People knew he was around, but no one could ever seem to find him. Came out of hiding thinking the war was still going, but was suffering from a case of pneumonia so he decided to surrender. Wound up getting a hero's welcome by the US military personnel stationed on the island, and getting a VIP transport back to Japan.
