And we have a match. Original motor and transmission as expected

That would be a great car to save Jim. Having owned several Barracudas over the years I just noticed two small things from the pictures. It looks like the original 22 inch rad rad has been replaced with a 26 inch rad. I also see an adapter ring on that carb, so perhaps the original carb was replaced by an earlier AFB? This is a picture of the engine bay on a 50,000 original mile 68 Formula S notch I used to own.

The carb is not original, the one in the trunk may be. Does this tell?

It did not look like the radiator was changed. That would take changing the support sides wouldn’t it?

A 26" radiator can be put on a 22" support by just centering it up and drilling a few holes. Hackery.....but it works in a pinch! The carb numbers are on the front edge of the mounting bolt boss on the front passenger side. I think @RAT ROD AL had a few 68 or 69 340 carbs listed the other day.

I’ve been researching these cars and it is HARD to find a nicely restored (or even unrestored) example. It seems they made about 1500 383s and 3500 340s. Hagardy says Concours is $44k. Does that seem realistic? It is clear you just don’t find these everyday.

Right there are not a lot of really nice factory 340 fastbacks out there. And they only made the 340 fastbacks for 2 years. And to find one restored at the level you are able to do pairs it down to very few cars out there like that.....
