Searching information about two Dodge 330 sedans, 1966, SFX (Super Factory Experimental) 426 Hemi engines, Blue. No one I talk to has any idea what I'm talking about, but I saw them in 1966 and was blown away!! They beat everyone at the time and were responsible for the "SFX" class. They were on tour and I suspect they ran at Lion's Drag Strip in 1966. Anyone have any information, I would appreciate response. Thank you

Sure they weren't earlier like 63/64 ish ? don't believe there was a 330 model after 64

New member with outlandish first post, quotes in questionable username, and no information whatsoever to back up a bogus claim?

Welcome to the site!

I have lots of memories about my time at Alton Dragway 1967 to 1971 and I am sure if I attempt to convey any of those memories some of them might not be totally accurate....Its been 55 years for Gods sake!!!

You could absolutely be right. I just saw them in 1966 and, this many years later, made an assumtion. Thanks for responding.

Soooo sorry. One, "R" and no money. Didn't mean it to be a claim. That's my name. Thanks...I liked the video.

Thank you so very much for the information. Seeing the photo and reading the articles fulfilled an item on my "Bucket List." Thank you again. While the video that followed was very humerous, the sarcasm was palpable. I joined this thread today and, so as not to be, "outlandish", I will forfiet my new membership and leave by the back door. Thank you.

i don't think the post was outlandish but i do think the comment was uncalled for. jmo. he was looking for info not a slam.

Jim, Go this this site for more info on the SFX cars. Sorry about the rude reception you received here.

rbkt65, I finaly found that video, pretty cool. I remember Art, he built some great engines, didn't he? Which car is Arts, and which car were you running?

No problem- and stick around, not sure why your post got that response.

Road Hog- art ran the american flyer rambler, i think. sbc with 3/4 rear axle. he would tow to the whitehall dragstrip by pulling the axle shafts. killer car. hell of an eng builder and racer. he was a killer at whitehall. one of my best friends has an a100 van and it ran in u stock i think. art tried to build a sbc in a car to compete with ed and he could never beat ed in the 318 van. van was called magic bus. he still has it. my car was a blue 69 dart.

So what's the difference between AFX and SFX?

RB, I saw Art at the White Hall Reunion several years ago is he still kick'n? I also saw the Magic Bus at the Jerseyville cruise and talked to the owner, Do you go there? What do you drive now? This is my RR and my wife's Valiant. The silver RR is my Son.

It's going to help you if you quit beating around the bush and indicate which response you're referring to.

It was the worst comment I've seen at a new member since I've been here.

It was a dick move.
If you're referring to mine, I beg to differ, but I won't bother to cite the ones I recall as I know they've been deleted.

i agree with gdrill. someone needs to step up and apologize. jmo.
Again, indicate who.
If you're referring to me, I'm happy to apologize. I'm sorry I didn't elaborate more. Allow me...

1966 330's? I'm pretty sure they were '64 Road Runners

"SFX (Super Factory Experimental)" SFX engines in stock cars? Or SFX cars? The Road Runners in question were in the SFXTT class, when they hit 88mph they jump back a year to gain a competitive edge. Very advanced as they literally outran the rule book and continually pre-dated the safety regs. It was a pretty trick setup, especially for '66.
Pepperidge Farms remembers, when Google doesn't, the "super factory experimental" class.

"Nobody knows what I'm talking about." Nobody knows what I'm talking about when I bring up that factory DOHC '74 340 Hemi Duster I saw in a sex toy store parking lot in '92, either.

"They beat everyone at the time and were responsible for the SFX class." So were these SFX cars that were responsible for the class, or they ran in the class that they were responsible for? Or they had SFX engines, that they used to beat everyone, so they made the class for them? That's where the time travel comes in. You travel back in time in order to be responsible for the class that you ran in. As far as beating everybody....records books will certainly bear out a record like that, and I highly doubt an uncontested 100% win season will be too hard to forget. Too bad such records aren't available today....

", Blue" The cars, or the engines? Nah, it was the drivers. Chrome valve covers? Dual quads or singles? Or were they injected? Or was it a 5-gallon gas can just pouring straight nitromethane down an open single plane? You saw they were 426 Hemi's....but only a dipstick would run a stock Hemi in a super factory experimental class.... Or did OP just see Hemi badges on the fender and make an assumption?

"I suspect that they ran at XXXX in 19XX" I suspect you really ought to nail this down to more than a suspicion if you expect anyone to remember. I suspect my Dart turned a 2.1 second quarter mile with a bone stock slant 6, and my blue *** the helm, at KCIR in 1997. Anyone here remember that? I sure do.

"Anyone have any information" Here: www.Google.com. All of Fabo, and damn near all of human history, and especially a large part of the heavily researched and documented and published history of the subject on which you're inquiring about, at your finger tips.

Any more questions from people that didn't actually think about OP's first post?

OP, you might be remembering the A864 cars, but unless you either clarify your memories better, or clarify your post better, nobody knows what you're talking about, as you've alluded to. If you watched 'em run in '66, that puts your age at 70 give or take, and that's a long time to remember details, but details matter on a thing like this. That said, whatever method you used to find this site can also be used to research these mythical beasts. Two seconds using my preferred search method yields
this:
Bonhams : 1964 Dodge 330 Hemi Lightweight Chassis no. 6142229092
Or at the very least, I'd start looking up groups like this one that specialize in what you're looking for:
https://vintagedragracing.org/
That being said, the one that will remember more than I'll ever know will certainly talk to you, but may be less kind than I am. Rick Ehrenberg at Mopar Action isn't a specialist in the details of drag racing but knows what cars the factory produced and knows the people that know:
MoparAction
And you might also try Geoff Stunkard, also a pro at knowing who knows. IIRC he's got a few books on the subject:

The new quote system sucks because you can't break the text out easily.
