Ok...I got a 5.7 in pieces, some new parts, some used. Thew water pump definitely does NOT mate to the timing cover. I assume that there is a different cover/water pump for cars and trucks, or something like that, so now I need to figure out how to tell what's what.

I appreciate the help!
 
you are correct, truck and car covers are different. a truck cover puts the alternator up top directly in the way of the throttle body on a car intake..
 
Truck and Car covers are different, if you are trying to run a 6.1L stock manifold on a truck cover it can be done, but requires modifications to the front cover.

Best bet is to get all the accessories from the same car.

Autozone is pretty nice about returns. Buy two water pumps, one for the truck, one for the car and see which one fits.
