Is the idle to high in neutral ? At 900 rpm it in neutral it will stall with lights on in drive , when at 1100 in neutral it is fine in drive with lights on . Will this hight idle damage the car ? 1970 340 AVS carb edelbrock air gap , mopar electronic ignition , 10.5 to 1 pistons and the cam is a step up from purple shaft , not sure the specs .
Does this sound okay , or should I have it sorted ?
Thanks , if more info needed let me know

It sounds like maybe you might have some more tuning to do. 1100 isn't really all that high with your cam. What are you setting the timing at? Auto or Manuel?

actually i was thinking that idle is really high unless its a big purple shaft! what it ur initial timing and what converter.

You need to sort it out.

Purple shaft is a generic mopar camshaft name. What is it?

I'd start with about 16* initial and see what happens, may need more. The rpm drop when in gear is way too big and usually indicative of not enough initial, mechanical advance bleeding in, carb on transition circuit and/or a really tight converter.

Could also be a huge vacuum leak..get a vacuum guage and see what vacuum you pull at idle and in gear...big drop big leak..for example at 900 rpm mine pulls 11 pounds of vacuum...when I drop it into gear it drops to 850 rpm and about 10.5 lbs of vacuum..I run a large lobe cam with high lift and 230/236 duration..hope this helps some...Eric

initial timing is 18 , stock converter , will get specs on cam . Would like to get this sorted
