That isn't the first one i've seen on ebay, there have been one's for A-bodys also.

Wow I looked at that!
Now I now where a lot of tags went.
You would think that would be not legal to do.

I wonder how many this guy has taken.

It was led to believe that the fender tag does not have any info that ties it directly to a certain car, is this incorrect? I notice that he has some numbers blocked. If these tags have VIN info that has to match the VIN tag exactly then I would think this tag would be worthless on anything but the original car. Can someone clarify this for me?

All fender tags also include the vin # of the car it came with from the factory. I'd say the guy is a rebody con artist. In one sense it is the same as selling a vin plate off a dash of a junked / parted out car. ILLEGAL I'd say.

Then the fender tag is worthless to anyone other than the person that has the car, if the car is still active. I know that the guy said it is notin this case. I am unsure about the legality of selling an old VIN tag but do know it is illegal to change VIN tags 90% of the time. I changed VIN tags once legally. I had a '70 Buick GSX that I purchasd to restore that was rear ended so bad that the main body section was not saveable. I purchase a '70 Buick GS 350 just for the body section and switched VIN tags. I contacted the apropriate state and federal authorities and they said that it can be quite common to have to put a VIN tag back on an auto if that part of the body work is replaced because of accident damage.

Chuck, the fender tag on my 1967 Barracuda does not have the same ending
number as the VIN.

The bottom right number on my fender tag matches the number
stamped into the radiator support on the driver side under the
anti-freeze decal. I believe this same number is stamped in
other places on the car but I have not looked anywhere else
yet.
