I have a Mallory HyFire-6A ignition box on my Duster with a factory electronic disributor and a conventional-style "can" coil spec'd for my setup. I recently learned about analog timing dial-back devices like the MSD 8680; I want to get one but it says it will only work with MSD systems. Now correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a device like this just a fairly simple signal modifier? It basically gets put in between the ignition control box and signal wires from the distributor. I don't see how something like that would ONLY work on MSD capacitive-discharge boxes and no others like my Mallory which is very similar, then again I'm no expert on this stuff.
