Hi all Im working on a 71 Duster and the ignition switch is super stiff to turn when starting car . and you have to pull it back manually to shut off car. Where ever you let go of the key that's where it stops. there is no spring assist at all. The 2 ears on the tumbler have been broke off by previous owner. Im afraid Ill break the key next. Any help? Is there a switch at bottom of column that is binding? I cant locate my manual right now for a pic of exploded column. Thanks

Try the how-to videos on the e-bodies.org website by Cuda Cody. I used them to disassemble and rebuild the column in my ‘71 Swinger. Really helpful.

It didn't get into some Viagra did it?

I have found a lot of these ole girls, that have sat a lot, that the switch gets stiff. I would remove the switch, and clean it with electronic points cleaner (CRC makes it), and then lube it up good, with a lube that will not dry out fast. Or you can use Graphite, also. I have had good results doing this.
