Inner Outer Tie rod ends

Im trying to replicate these tie rod ends. I use c body sleeves at 11/16 so im wondering which heim joints and what other parts do i need to make these instead of the standard upper and lower. Also whats durability looking like for these would you still stick with stock like ones or no? thank you
 
The rod ends / heims will have to be replace after so many miles. On the race cars we replace them about every 2-3 thousand miles as the bearing gets loose. Only about 25 bucks each. You will notice that one side it right hand thread and the other is left hand thread. Which is the fine grove cut almost to the end on one side of the sleeve. Most of the times the left side.

As for sizing. It’s best to look on a site like FK as they make them to show you sizes. The other part is the inserts which can be as much as the rod end. And will shim down the size.

So say the rod end is 1/2 x 1/2, that means the threaded part is 1/2 inch and the id of the ball is 1/2 then you add an insert that shims it down to 3/8. The inserts also give you height off the ball.

If it’s a street car, stick with stock style parts.

Also those adjuster rods are made out of aluminum, so it you hit a curb or such the rod end treads will rip out of the adjuster sleeves or break. We make similar on the lathe for the race cars, when we make a set we make 2 extra that goes in the spares box. That’s where the steel ones from FF can take more of a beating. The Bergman are also steel… would take steel over alum for a street can any day…

If I were to use a Heim type style joints I'd try to find the right size of 'JohnnyJoints'.
Originally for offroad, I think, they have much further movement without binding & they have boots on them, grease fittings & are rebuildable , too.
 
Saw picture in a magazine article where Steve Strope had built a Challenger and used them on at least the rear suspension & probably more
