How do the inside door handles come off on a 62 Lancer?

big freaking hammer!!!!
the same as later mopars-- they have a square peg --with a spring clip (in a groove)-- it takes some time-- you have to release the spring clip from the square peg & it comes off--very seldom does it pop right off.

yep, thanks Lawrence, I managed to sumhow figure it out before I read your post, and I thinki in all, it took me about an hour to get those two handles off, wow, BUT, I do have the BFH standing by for future reference!!!

well, I FIXED these retarded inside door handles, drilled and tapped a hole in the center of that square shaft, then drilled and countersunk a hole in the handles, now they are attached with screws.....SO friggen simple and look pretty good!!!!
For future reference, a rag works pretty good for getting those clips off. A small piece of cloth rolled up and pull it in behind the handle, one end in each hand, and use a sawing motion to pull them off.
