Intake gasket Metal or composite ?

I have a 273 that has 302 iron heads. I'm also using an edelbrock performer intake. Look s like I will be pulling the intake (oil leak). What are you using for the intake gasket set.? Metal or something else ? The heads had a clean only cut. All of the port sizes are stock for the 302 heads/ and the edelbrock performer.

I would only use metal shim with iron manifold. Aluminum=squishy ones.

OK , but my intake is an eddy alum performer. With Iron 302 heads.

I guess I miss read you post. Your saying not to use the shim type. sorry.

Both have been used with good success on all types of combinations. The Ford Cleveland crowd actually says to USE the shim style gasket (valley pan) with an aluminum intake if a leak persists. I think either way can be acceptable if the right installation methods are used.
