intake manifold

Guys
I bought an 87' Ramcharger and it has a 1977 318 and an Eddy 1406 on it. I think the previous owner put a 2-4bbl adaptor on there. Also looks like it has a 2bbl throttle hookup. Here are the numbers on my intake:

18436572...naw just kiddin, here they are for real:

4100340.2

is this a 2bbl intake? I just dont wanna pull the carb unless needed.

now i gotta figure out why it runs like crap. I had to crank the timing up past 10 degrees to get it to start again after initial startup. (while hot). Sometimes while going down the highway it backfires through the carb as well. any suggestions from anyone?

Timing chain is loose or skipped a tooth. Pull the distributor cap and see how far in crank degrees you can turn the crank before the rotor moves.
