Got my felpro gasket kit for my 318 and the intake gaskets are metal. Which way does the ribs go? Does the flat side of the gaskets go on the heads? Just a torch of sealant or paint everything with it? Or throw them away and get fiber?

They're fine as long as your intake manifold is cast iron. If it's aluminum you'll need to get some cork/paper/fiber gaskets. To install them, the parts that stick out need to go into the bolt holes on the heads and the area around the intake port parts of the gaskets should be coated on both sides with black RTV. Just make sure you work quickly as that stuff sets fast.

Go figure. I put the stamped part into the holes of the intake...and strike 2 is that the intake is aluminum. Guess what I am doing tomorrow? At least I its on an engine stand. Thanks for replying.

I got the metal ones in my kit too. I have aluminum heads and intake to I'll run the Felpro high performance fiber gaskets. Those are really nice.
