I feel like I'm going to get teased with my questions, but what can I say? Here in old Europe, we use the metric system (which isn't communist...) for practically everything. So, there's no question of using our feet, fingers, noses, toes, ears, etc., instead of a good old-fashioned metal ruler with easy-to-read graduations.
Let's get to my questions: I purchased, installed, and wired an Intellitronix dashboard for my Duster 70 318/904. Everything works perfectly; it's a really good product that allows me to view my speed in km/h, which will be very useful for avoiding those french speed cameras...
To understand the gist of my question, here are a few things to consider:
If you're familiar with Intellitronix displays, you know that the instantaneous speed is displayed digitally (on 3 digits).
You also know that all around this speed display is a circular bar graph composed of segments that light up in relation to the speed: it's a visual way to assess speed without necessarily reading the numbers.
in the example above, we see that for 60 mph, the circular display is lit at approximately 60% of its totality.
Originally, the instrument panel should work perfectly for speeds up to 100 mph, and so I believe Intellitronix established a range of 0 to 100 (mph) for this circular bar graph, assuming that a car rarely exceeds 100 mph.
However, when you convert the display to KM/H, you see higher numbers: 100 mph = approximately 160 km/h.
As a result, the bar graph saturates at 100, and speeds above 100 KM/H are not represented on the bar graph.
Rest assured, they are perfectly displayed on the digital display: I drove this morning at 130+ km/h, and was able to monitor the actual speed (but with the bar graph saturated from 100 km/h).
My question then: is there a way to change this scale on the bar graph, and make it accept speeds from 0 to 200 km/h, for example?
When we look at the calibration and visualization options for distance and speed-related parameters, we see that there is a parameter named "SSP," which has a value of 100, but which does not appear anywhere in the Intellitronix documentation.
Do you think this is the correct parameter to modify? I asked Intellitronix support, but I don't know if they understood the meaning of my question.
I'll give it a try tomorrow, I don't think there's much risk involved (it's just the display configuration), but if any of you have ever wondered about it?
It's clearly not that important and it won't prevent me from enjoying the car. But I'm very curious and would like to know if it's possible or not.
