I'm working with Campbell Enterprises on another run of the Wiseco larger bore pistons to go with their 7.005" Molnar connecting rods.

The smaller bore Wiseco pistons are still available, but the larger 3.48-3.50 bore pistons have not been available for quite some time.

If you are interested in these larger bore pistons, please post here.

I should have information on piston specs, prices and turnaround times within a couple weeks.

I’ll bite. Going to have to build another slant to run this.

Wiseco confirmed that they do have forgings they can machine to those sizes so I should have the price info for the .084 and .104 oversize pistons by end of day tomorrow.
I’ll be sure to check back tomorrow. I’m thinking.084 should do for me. At what point does core shift become a big concern?

Anytime You haven't sonic checked it,...... is it probably fine 75-85% of the time?.... sure, but a thorough inspection & sonic test is the only way to not be concerned on some level. As per My post in the maximum bore threads, I ran into porosity @.060" over, so one cylinder had to be sleeved...that was a '68 block with ~75K on it, work done around '86..
That K6 block is up in the garage, which was 13°F last night, but I need to go up & sweep Mine & see what it looks like...I'm not adverse to going bigger, but given the known issue with one hole and 40yrs. later, I'm going to have to sonic test & give it a real critical eyeball 1st.

So, we're talking about 238 cubic inches here. So that's 13 cubic inches for how much?

Now, Lord knows I ain't knockin it. I'm thrilled that they are making slant 6 stuff. Gives folks some choices and that's a great thing. Just seems like a lot of money for a small change. If you could offset grind the crank along with the big bore pistons, then you get 245 cubes. I have three 225 blocks and the THINNEST place in any of their bores is almost .375". That's 3/8" if you're keepin score. LOL That's room for a BIG bore for a slant. It's a shame they cannot get 4" like a 300 Ford.

We're also talking much lighter slugs, with a modern lighter ring package, and the bore goes well with max effort valve sizes,.....and 13-20hp on a serious Slant if You're going o/s anyways...
Is that .375" with or without pinholes....?....:poke:

Oh I know all that. Even the cast 2.2 pistons in mine are WAY lighter. ...and therein lies the rub. Who knows WHAT you'd run into boring that big? Pinholes, pockets and no telling what else. Like I said, I'm not knockin it. No way no how. I'm glad they're being offered. You know how much grass 13 cubes will cut? lol

As of today, the price for a set of the Wiseco 225 Slant Six forged pistons in .084 or .104” oversize is $689.00 plus shipping. These are for use with the 7.005” length rods and stock rod pin and wrist pin sizes.

The price may change after the first of the year, not sure about that yet.

Is getting one set made for .060" over out of the question?
Thx Jim K6

Hey Jim,

It certainly isn't out of the question. Wiseco currently offers smaller bore options like .045 over.

I've found that the trick is to find a size that will equate to something already available on the market. That's where the .084 and .104 sizes come in. They are equivalent to more modern metric sizes readily(ish) available for other applications.

With that being said. If you want a one-off set of .060 over Slant 6 pistons made... They can do it... I'm sure...

Rob, when
i talked to them last, they said all they planned were the flat tops. Just asking for others, as I won't used forced induction, but is there a chance they might make some dished pistons? They used to.

Thanks Rob, I guess I worded that poorly. I was trying to determine if the .5mm over 2.2/2.5 size (3.4645") required the same forged blanks the other big bores do, & if they could be included in the buy.

Gotcha. I thought the 3.4645 pistons were still available for the 7.005" rods...

If Wiseco already has the forgings for the .084 and .104, it may likely not require a minimum run or special order. Just a part #...
Marshall has been very responsive, so I'll likely know more tomorrow when he's back in the office.

I might be interested if these are not the standard flat tops they offer in a bigger bore. have a turbo and would prefer a dish or stepped dish.

Latest from Marshall. Pistons DO include all the goodies.

I will request those specs and yes, the quote I requested from our rep at Wiseco was to include the 6 pistons, wrist pins, pin locks and piston rings.
