I often try to gauge the age and wear on a TQ by seeing how tight the primary throttle shaft bushings are. NOTICE THE PISTON SCUFFING the wear on the metering rod pistons.
I haven't seen one so worn that it's not doing it's job

Out of all these shown, ONE was acceptable for use, that still has the adjustment screw slot on the top, and minimal scuffing. Every TQ I pulled these out of had (for me anyway, unacceptable throttle shaft play)
