Is 904 small block same for 6 cylinder?

No won't work. Starter is in the wrong place. Not sure about the bell housing never tried to mount one up.
 
Bell is completely different. There used to be (and I don't know WHY) a factory adaptor to allow the use of a 727 V8 trans behind a slant, I guess before /6 727's? were made?
