Whoever had the car before me has that back panel between the lights dented in pretty good, so I need it to be replaced at some point. I always like the 71-72's back panel better with the tail lights, but if I did that, would that be uncool?

I think it would be a huge step forward in the looks dept. if you ask me. I personally love the 72' taillights myself. They match the rear of the car better than the 70-71 & 73 & up's did. I say go for it!

do it. i like the 70-72 better myself. planning on putting a demon tail panel in out 76 dart sport.

Go for it. Its your car and if you like thats all that matters.

I can help you out with whichever way (or both) that you want to go...
I have a '74 or'75 parts car where the center section of the tail panel is in good shape.
If you go with a new '72 repop tail panel, you will need the inner brackets that the tail lights fasten to. I have an extra set.

I also like the looks of the '70-'72 tail lights better but it would be a bigger task to do that change.
