I'm just checking to see if this 340 is needed to complete someone's restoration project before I send it to the machinist for stroker preparation. I also posted this in the restorations forum. -pauly

Look for a VIN along the pass side oil pan rail just below the drain plug
 
VIN# IEI 856
GW340P33810351 stamped on the front below drivers side deck. -pauly

That is actually not the Vin.

That is the serial number.

G = Series Code
W = Windsor plant
340 = 340cid
P = Premium Fuel
3381 = Day 3381 is Friday, October 30, 1970
0351 = The build sequence


You are looking for what is stamped along the oil pan rail. That will be the vin.
 
It's a partial vin

Looks like a 1971 Los Angeles built car.

Chally, Cuda, Demon, Duster. Don't recall if they built any 71 B body cars in LA.
