I was thinking about this today. How easy would it be o install a jeep rear in an A body. I drive a 1996 ZJ and it has a Dana 44a with 3.73 gears. I know the zj's came with an 8 1/4 rear so maybe. I think the size would be close. Just wondering if anyone has done it.

Been done.
You have to cut the long side of the axle tube down to the same length of the other side and replace that same side axle with the short one.
Then move the spring perches.
If you use a disc brake rear axle then you get rear dics out of the deal also.

Ok now the rear in my jeep uses coils to I'd have to weld in some perches on it anyways. I'm going to measure it tomorrow.

Apparently the E brake cable can be made to work.
The driveline will need to be modded also.
If I remember right, the Jeep is 60 inches end to end.
