Iv'e got a 1964 Barracuda. Right now I've got 14" stock wheels on it while I cleaned up the original 13" wheels. (Going for the original look)
The tires on her now are H78-14. That's right, they are still holding air!! In any case I really like the look. If I convert to current size, they are approx. 215/70/14. To keep that same look with 13" wheels, 225/80/13?
Do any of you have that size on your car?

I'm running dinky 185 R13's on mine. People comment how small the tires are. Someday I'll upgrade to something bigger ... probably after my kids finish college!

no 13 inch tire will be that tall,
if your car was built with a V8, it came with 7.00x13.

That size is not reproduced.

Thats why I am using 205/70/r14 on my 1964 V8 Valiant.

185/80-13 is a really common size, and fits OK on the stock 13" wheels. For the 14" rims, 195/75-14 or 205/70-14 are about right. Bear in mind you won't find much in the way of high performance rubber in these sizes.

I'm in Chicago. I can't believe how hard it is to find 185/80-13 in white wall that is not kumho or the likes. Not really concerned about performance as the 185hp or so is not going to lift the front end.

H78-14 is no longer, the closest would be G78-14 or 215/78/14 or 225/70R14 if available (ever think of a small 15" ?)

I'm looking to keep the end result day one stock. The original plan was to put the 14's on (because I just happen to have them) while I sandblast and paint the original 13 in. wheels. That's done. Now comes putting the rubber on. The original 13 in. optional hubcaps are in beautiful condition. The problem is that
1) I dont have 14 in. hubcaps, but...
2) I really like the look of the 14's.
However I still want to keep to day one stock. I just can't seem to find 13 in. white wall tires, that aren't from Coker tire, that don't cost more than the tires I use on my every day cars!!
I had no idea that finding 13 in. tires would be so complicated.

Really? A heck of a lot of FWD Ford and GM cars in the 80s had 13x5.5 rims. If you can't find a set of basic 155, 165 or 185-13s at your local Sears or Wal-Mart I'd be surprised. Bet they'd have that awful white stripe on one side as well. If you don't want a name brand like Kumho, perhaps "Mastercraft" of Mileage Master" is better. Even the worst tire today is lightyears better than what was on your car originally.

Thanks to all who responded! Found a ste of 185-80/r13s by firestone. White wall and all. Boy are the tiny.
