I use yahoo messenger every now and then to chat with only a couple of friends and my son. In oh I reckon the last month or so, the number of emails on my yahoo account has really taken off. I never used to get emails there, but now my inbox there will have around 25 or so spam emails a week. Are any of the rest of yall seein this crap?

Rob, yes its been goin on EVERYWHERE not just yahoo. I have my e-mail at "hotmail" that account has been ACTIVE since before Hotmail was bought and controlled by MSN back in 2000. Its my REGULARLY used e-mail too....I get something like 25 e-mails a day normally sometimes more and about 15 of them are junk/spam e-mails.....

HOWEVER Yahoo is a *****. Some of the things I got, Ebay account, and other forums I'm on I can't get into since that damned big virus attack a few months ago. attached my accounts and it locked them all up ,and I've been in contact with yahoo over it and they tell me well the systems clean you should be OK, NOW if it was just my home computers doing it, OK thats one thing but I've gone to the local library, and still I can not sign into these places that had been accounted under my yahoo address, it simply will not "open" or sign me in...

I recently was able to get into my ebay account and change its account address to my hotmail one, but there are 3 or 4 others I'm still unable to sign into....So I think something is in my account....Or had it locked up so to speak.....As all my other accounts through hotmail are working and are active!

I have had issues in the past with Yahoo so I canned everything that had to do with them. Using Gmail I might get 10 to 15 spam emails a month. When I do get one, I just send it to spam and Gmail takes care of doing it automatically after that.

I don't use yahoo at ALL for email. It is only when I sign onto messenger that I see I have lots of new mail. Up until about a month ago, that never happened. I don't use free email accounts for that very reason. Most of them are ate up with spam.

I'm still using Yahho, being stubborn about taking the 3 seconds to change it, haha. I get a lot of spam, but my filter takes pretty good care of it. The other thing I have noticed recently is that any time I open an email from someone (CL responses or anything) it automatically adds it to my contacts. It never used to do that.

My yahoo was awful! I had that email account since the day Al Gore invented the the internet. When I finally terminated that account and everything to do with it, I was getting almost 200 spam emails a day. I switched to Gmail and like said a lot less spam.

I do however have a huge ***** with Gmail. When I was going thru my divorce all of the nasty emails my ex was sending to me where saved there. One day I went to retrieve them and they were all gone! Every frickin email in all of my email boxes GONE! I contacted them and they told me there was nothing they could do. This has happened on more than one occasion with gmail.

For instance say you are selling a part here on the site, and you start a email conversation and you save it to a file named "sold parts". You ship it and are just holding onto those emails until you know that the buyer got the part and was happy. Then the buyer desides to just shoot the **** with you by replying to the multiple email conversation you have been having, but it really dont pertain to the sale so you delete the email. It will also delete all the emails that you had saved in that other file also. Why it does this I have no idea but Gmail, has not been able to tell me how to prevent this from happening. That is my only ***** with them

I'm an old timer when it comes to Hotmail. I was a user of Hotmail, since 1996. BEFORE they were over-taken by MSN in 2000. My account right now is one of very few that still exist and in service by them....I am under the original "free" account, I have 1 Terabyte inbox, and have VERY little Spam otherwise but there has been a slight incline over the past 2 or 3 months since that big virus thing with Yahoo..... Nice part is I have the complete protection as tho I pay for the account!!!!! I have done my best to keep that account going because of this.

Now to show a few things on Hotmail I can adjust how and where "new" e-mails come from, I can have them come in to a folder, that I create, and store that e-mail by name within that folder too! I can send anything or any one e-mail to be blocked, such as repeated ones, I can even block/prevent e-mails with specific words in the tittles from getting to my inbox, OR spam folders....I never see them!

I got a lot of account settings that I actually like. Granted, the "new" free accounts do not have this! Nor do they have an account the size of mine, I'm not sure why I got this all but I am not arguing with it..... They at MSN "Microsoft" contacted me some time ago in an e-mail, a legit e-mail with a phone number to call and talk to a rep, and I did.....As it was VERY professional to ask me to, and provide me with info on an offering for being in the top 10 oldest in-use accounts in there system! By doing so, it allowed them to "up grade" remove my old account onto a new server or something machine for memory and they could replace that old out of date equipment and I kept everything, I didn't loose a single e-mail, it merely lost a day of time on my account, so, that "day" I was unable to get any e-mail or anything. which I warned everyone I talked to at the time to NOT send me anything iomportant as I would not get it....

Been loyal up to getting Yahoo account for the "groups" but that, well, I think I'm gonna let lapse, as its a crock of **** to deal with with all the spam, viruses, and God only knows what else is lurking there!

I don't use any of the "messengers" or chat services.

I stopped. And Rob's experiences is one of the reasons why. I don't think I've signed on to yahoo messenger in years. Same with AIM or ICQ and if there are any new ones, other than Skype or through facebook, I don't know about 'em.

Funny you say that Robert. I just flushed yahoo messenger this morning. later tater. lol
