hey there fellow a body nuts. i just registered with a body's only because i saw it on big block dart forum. had never heard of it before. i have a 71 dart swinger gt that i'm installing a 360 with a six pack for induction. it's all new stuff and am currently doing reassembly. i completely restored the dash and steering column. am now working on gettin the jams painted for door assembly. i do all my own work and basically by myself. it is a long road to travel alone but very satisfying with the finished project. i will inlist a few friends when i go to drop in the motor and trans. those can be a headach doing alone. i've painted the engine compartment and am reassembling that also. kind of jumping around as the time permits. i've posted some pics on photobucket.com under my user name of bigdaddydondart. love to hear from anybody who like to give feedback. i'm more then willing to give advise as well as accept it. thanks for letting me ramble about myself. looks to be a great place to share info.

thanks for the welcome. no i'm not the biggest daddy. i just stole the name cause he's my hero. there is nobody like the garlits. all i can do is wish i was that cool. i'll never forget seeing him do the wheelstand at half track, stand it on it's tail,spin and head the other way. and what did he do when he crawld out, did his famous wave like he meant to do that. calm and cool. sure wish he'd bring a team out to play with his swamp rats. well, i tried to down load a photo but it didn't take. i'll have to try again. i can't seem to do it at the other mopar forum either. that's why i started my photobucket link so i could do it but still haven't figured it out. well thanks again guy's and gal's. hope to have a good time here.

That sure would be cool to see swamp rats come back.
I talked to him two years ago and when I was a youngster I use to mowe his yard in Sefhener Fla. a good tipper and some neat toys at home.
You have to yell pretty loud to talk to him know, His hearing has gotten very bad, Yes sir he is one of the greats.:salut:

hey there all moparites, my name is don as you can see from bigdaddydon. i live in central oregon near bend,oregon. really just south of there outside of sunriver resort. i have myself a 30x60 shop that i just can't believe i filled up with stuff. i use to have a 24x24 when i lived in portland, oregon and i thought that was small. well i can't get enough stuff i guess. i try to aquire dodge darts when i can and usually just part them out. i didn't with the one i'm working on. it's an original slant six car but bought a few others along the way and kept parts for this one as i went. the 360 is bored over .020 and has speedpro hyper pistons w/moly rings. the heads i picked up on ebay from a guy in capecod maine. he ports and polishes heads so these were done to the max. i'm using stock type hipro manifolds so flow won't be as good as headers. headers can be such a pain sometimes. i'm running 2.5 inch exhaust with x pipe. have frame connectors welded in as well as making my own from frame tie. i cut out the flimsy lower part under radiator and used a lite wall box steel tubing. kinda copied what xv motorsports is doing with their builds. used a 74 front k member with disc brakes and rewelded it all back together. just the k member. made my own reinforcement plates for lower control arms. i have used poly bushings in all places. after assembling front end i noticed lower control arms started to spit out poly bushings. actually pushed the lower control arm and bushing off of pin. so i had a friend of mine make up some jack screws and caps that i installed over torsion bar bulkheads and bolted them in. now i just jacked the bars forward and reset the lower control arms in place. i haven't tried these out but i don't believe the bars really gain much in length so should be in good shape. i will try and get pics up showing these. the guy that made them is quite a machinist and they look really neat. i've basically rebuilt and refurbished every part i take off. i detail everything i can so it should look real nice when i'm done. hopefully i can drive it next summer. oh yah, i also bought tubular upper control arms from cap automotive. maybe soon i can get the tubular lower arms also. 400.00 a set is kinda spendy but maybe. well, it looks like i better get off to sleep. tomorrow's another day and hope to get more done on my ride. talk at you again.
