    Contact Seller
Would like to borrow, rent or buy a K frame dolly to install a 318 and transmission into a 73 Dart.
Looking for something in the Western NC area. Also eastern Tn.,NW South Carolina or even NE Georgia.
I really don’t want to spend a lot of $ on something that will just set around the shop when done.
If all else fails I will just build one.
    Thanks all.

If your talking about installing the motor from the bottom just go buy a couple of wood dollies from harbor freight . Just used them for my swap .

If you build one that dissassembles with set screws then it wont take up space. I like the china freight dolly idea as well. Cheap and easy. Even better when you got a few 20% off coupons. Heres my stalled out k frame dolly project. Center spine will have set screws to hold it in place.

Yeah I’m hoping to find or build one that sits up a little higher so I don’t have to drop the car down too low. That way I can reach under and attach the transmission crossover also.
Are you going to add pieces to yours to increase height?
              Thanks

Yes i am. I am going to also put a modern car scissor jack mounted to a piece of square tube that fits over the center spine to slide fore and aft. This way when i build an engine and install it to the k i have something to support it at the back, and so on with a bellhousing, or gearbox. The scissor jack can also be used to raise the trans into position. I have some old 318 wrist pins i am going to weld on as risers for the K frame support.

That scissor jack is a good idea.
I think I will mount one under the transmission area and that way I can easily adjust the angle as needed. Thanks

These are real easy to make. Mine will hold just an a-body k member bolted though the holes.

Then you can set the motor on by itself using the block rail hole.

The trans can also be removed or installed while on the cart. The tailshaft stand is adjustable as is the block rail stand. This stand has extra rails so it can be carried with a forklift.

Here are some pictures of it being used. It didn't take much time or material. It gets used alot. For stripping cars or putting them together. If any one is interested in pictures by itself let me know

Pics of it empty would be great.
Probably going to build one since I can’t find a used one for sale.
                Thanks

I'll get some pictures when it is empty. We decided to add a adjustable k member jack. If you look at some with the motor on it with weak mounts the k member hangs even though it is fastened down with the nuts you can see on some pics.

The eye hook welded on the back is to strap it down when we carry it with the forks on the skid loader.

That one you have is great if you have a 2 post lift to get the body real high which you do. Most guys are working out of a regular garage, and using a cherry picker to lift the front of the car to stuff a driveline underneath it. That may be why the movers dolleys work so well for most. Plus they are inexpensive and require no fabrication prior to using them.

One place I worked at had a 4ft X 4ft table about 3ft high with casters for doing front drive vehicals. Worked pretty slick. Of course u needed a hoist. Kim

This can be built at any height you desire. Ours is that height so you can build the motor sitting on a chair. We made them lower for people. He also made one with the nose up so you can use a engine hoist. These pictures are of what we made this one for our use.

Maybe you should look at what changes you can make but use the same concept. Some of you just can't think out of the Box. A true sign of being thick headed or just jealous. Non the less some appreciate ideas to toss around.

If you all don't like pictures I'll move on to another site and only answer want ads in PM's.

Yeah I don’t have a two post lift so I was going to mount a axel jack the the transmission end to be able to adjust the angle and height on that end. That is if I build one.
As for thinking out of the box, I can do that. Out of the box is good so long as I can stay out of the dog house.

Not phoo phooing your idea oldmanmopar. Good idea if you have a lift. Most people dont. They are all pretty much the same design though give or take a few ideas. T shaped spines with castors under them. They all pretty much work the same way.
