Hi All

I'm almost thru rebuilding the brakes on my GTS and was wondering if I should swap my original front disc's...the originals ( 11 inch rotors) had to be cut down to .81 from .83...lots of surface rust from 18 years of just sitting...anyway I've been told that these might have trouble in hard hi speed stops and saw on this website about brakeperformance.com.com (I think thats the website, I'll have to check later ) they have replacement rotors slotted and drilled for just over $100...

so my question is, is it true about the original 11 inch rotors having poor stopping power and should I change the rotors for the slotted and drilled replacements??? also in the mix, I have 11X2 or 11X2.5 (cant remember right now ) drums in the back

what do you'all think??

You won't notice anything from drilled and slotted rotors on a street car. Drilled and slotted rotors for all practical purposes can not be turned.

Getting a real performance "Street" pad as opposed to a stock replacement is the way to go.

But……

Don't over pad it. When I say a street pad I mean a street pad. Don't get a track pad thinking….. Well if a street pad is good a track pad will be better…… It doesn't work that way.

When the K-H factory works properly, your car will not have any problems stopping.

The minimum rotor thickness should be stamped into the backside of the rotor or hat. As I recall, the minimal rotor thickness is .75 so you have plenty of metal remaining before you discard.
