I was going to swap out my 3.8 Kickdown lever (that applies the kickdown band) with a 4.2 lever. I cannot get the 1/4 inch pipe plug that holds the lever's shaft in. I tried using a 1/4 inch ratchet. It is so stuck that I broke the ratchet. Can anyone help me on this ??

Thanks.

Steve

There is a tool that is 1/4 square and L shaped for that. (harder than the ratchet metal)
It wouldn't hurt to heat the area if you can before trying to get it out.

I had to drill mine out until I could finally rip the threaded shell out with an EZ Out. I tried using a socket extension, and that basically reamed the plug into a nice round hole.......

I've come across this problem more times than I care to remember. Some come out easily, & others are in there as if the factory gorilla tightened them. I use a high quality 1/4 socket extension. Something from Snap-On, Hazet etc. with the same quality T-handle & a cheater. I've only ever had to drill & tap 2 housings. If you have to tap, the thread is 1/4 -18 NPT.
Cheers. Gaz
