RE: '71 slant six Swinger. About ready to drive it but I think something's missing from the kick-down linkage. I believe a return spring is missing to take the slack out of the slotted rod. Does anyone have a part number for the missing spring or know where I can get one?
O R should I just go over to the (some name) auto store and buy a generic spring and make do?

also. Anyone know where I can procure one of those heat riser springs (that should be just behind and below the slotted kickdown rod pictured) ???

Both of the springs you need can be just generic springs. All the kickdown one has to do is keep the sliding lower rod pulled up to the top of its slot in the upper rod. All the heat riser spring has to do is prevent the odd rattle noise. They're not calibrated to a specific tension (tho if you put too much sideload on the heat riser shaft with too strong a spring, the shaft will probably bind and not turn freely).
