I was reading my TS manual on 904 and 727 transmissions, and it shows pictures of a small spring right next to the kickdown locknut, down near the gear selector of a 904 or 727 where you adjust the kickdown to where you want it, then tighten the little nut. My 79 904 transmission doesnt have this spring. Did they do away with the little spring, or am I just missing it?
Thanks!

if i'm not mistaking the spring should be on the linkage itself. not the transmission. if i'm wrong i'm sure someone will correct me.:dontknow:

Your right. That's where it's at.

I'm not sure why they used it since the linkage is tightened down to where the spring does no good. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thats it! thanks for the picture ssduster360!
It mentions something about slack when tightening the bolt/adjusting the kickdown as far as usefulness...ill copy it tomorrow from my TSB manual
