What goes over this opening? This is the drivers side of an LA 360 intake with 360 heads on a 318 block replacing a 67 273. Have no idea what this is or what to do with it. Do I need some kind of block off plate?

The EGR valve. It recirculates the exhaust gas into the intake. If you don't have emission tests in the state just make a plate to cover it or buy an EGR valve and put it on. Cheaper to make a plate to cover it.

Yep block it off if you are not using EGR.

No EGR required here. Thanks guys, will make a plate.
If it's a mild engine an EGR valve can actually improve MPG by a couple of points. There are some benefits.
