Are all factory LA rocker shafts interchangeable? Say 273 adjustable or hydraulic shafts? More curious than anything.
Thanks

I have some 273 adjustable rockers and shafts that I may install on my 68 340. I may change the shafts to the banana groove shafts. I thought 340 and 273 were interchangeable, no?
Or do I use my 340 shafts?

While not a direct answer, I ran a 273 shaft/rocker assembly on my 340 for years. I added my own grooves per some ancient Mopar magazine article.
I also plugged the oil hole in top of the rocker and drilled a new oil hole "aimed" at the valve tip. The top of the pushrods were the "cup" rather than the underside of the rocker, so IIRC it caught enough oil for the PR-Rocker interface.

I recall being told you must use banana groove shafts with the adjustable rockers. It had something to do with putting oil in the right places instead of just dumping it into the stamped rockers.

Yes
They are interchangeable
However They are not a direct swap out
Like Bob said. The adjustable grooved shafts have extra oiling holes for the pushrods
If you use the stamped rockers on the banana groove shaft's
The extra oiling holes will leak oil from where the oil hole is slightly uncovered
