Is it required to brace the floor where the loop bolts to? Is it a good idea? Or are the bolts and washers enough to get the job done?
 
I would recommend bracing the floor where you put it in, or weld some angle iron off the subframe connectors and bolting to that. Just bolting it to the floor board isn't enough. My buddy did that with his '67 Camaro. When he split his trans. it tor the floor pan up bad, and the drive shaft ripped the loop right out. If he would have been going down the track, rather than right on the line, it would have been VERY UGLY!!
 
The loop it the Duster is in with over size washers. Flat
stock about 3 in. square. Lost the front U joint couple of
weeks ago. Held up great.
