Looks good Fred. I will get there!

I need to bust my *** with welder first. Rear window still kickin my ***!

What kind of primer are you using at this point? Not epoxy? Primer Surfacer?
No epoxy primer it is to gummy and clogs up sand paper. Epoxy is for bare metal then sand and use a regular primer that sands easy and a sheet of sand paper lasts a long time. You only want to put epoxy primer down the first time no more than that as far as I'm concerned.
I will I hope be welding up my rust issues real soon Jeff and will try to get you some pictures of how I do it. Not that I am any better at it just good to share.

Whats kicking your *** Jeff?

I'm dabbling in PDR. That **** aint easy either. Physically and patience. I just want to hit it with a grinder and ship it to the paint department. LOL
Been doing it since 1980 something on new cars coming into the port of Tacoma Washington till 2000 then moved to North Dakota and had no idea how bad hail damage can be. If I can still take a dent the size of a tennis ball out so can you BP, just take your time 2 hours on one dent sometimes. Get your lighting real good and get comfy and start pushing.

Hi BP,

This is the passenger side trunk gutter.

This is what I got the other side to!

The lower rear window corners will keep me busy for a few days also.

In reality I am just whining a bit. I will get it done!

Good job Jeff!

Thank you sir, it's hard to believe I am getting much done because I am soooooooooooo slow!

Now I feel like my back will allow me to get a little something done. My brother has my welder and rotisserie until next week. I'm pretty sure it will go better when I can tilt to the right angle and sit on a stool because I can't stay bent over for any amount of time. Not sure I ever will again!

If I'm correct this doesn't have to perfect in the gutters, just close. Big *** rubber seal fills the gap!

Don't hurt your back Jeff take your time it will get done.

But you still have a chrome molding I would think.

No sir, no chrome around that. The deck lid (trunk lid) just closes even with the surface above the gutter. I may be wrong but I should be able to fill that smooth with filler and nobody would be the wiser.

Just my way of doing it Jeff. get a die grinder cut the bad section out and try not to destroy the bad section. Get some metal try and copy the bad section and weld in the new.
I don't think you can get a new part for the trunk area so you will need to make your own part. Don't be afraid to cut it out because it has to be replaced as far as I can see. you can cut and weld a new piece to fit even if you have to make a few patch panels. when you think you got it right tack it in and then put the deck lid on to see how it lines up if good weld it in if not untack it and make another patch panel. kinda like trying to do trim work in a old house that is not square.

Fortunately I was able to get patch pieces! I'll shoot you a pic tomorrow!

Your car Jeff I am only here to voice my opinion and will help no mater what you do. But in my opinion if you are gonna run an engine with lots of HP than the whole car is going to take a beating and will crack any area that is not structurally strong.

Yessir, I agree. There are quite a few structural bends in the repair pieces. I agree, and I want any repairs I make to be stronger than factory.

I have a whole lot mote weld contact there now than the spot welds ever had!

I"ll show ya tomorrow.
