Got the 833 back in and street tested her yesterday. Once everything was feeling good, went a little harder on her and she did great. Came back and no leaks! Mission accomplished. Tore down the Hurst shifter, cleaned, and relubed her while I was at it. Amazing how a $6 seal can cause so much work, but that's the nature of the fun I guess. Thanks for all the inputs.
