leaving vinyl top off 1972 dart

I was wondering if the chrome strips around the windows are the same on hardtops and vinyl top cars. I was thinking about leaving the vinyl top off but it seems that there will be a pretty large gap between the body and the chrome strips. Thanks for the help. Love this website has been very helpful to me since I bought my dart.

I believe they were different. The vinyl took up the larger gap in the trim. I have heard that you can "adjust" the gap by squeezing it together a little.
