Let's see your 198 Slant!

-
The 198 engine was only built for a short time (3 or 4 years?) After this many years have gone by, how many are still out there, running. Many were probably replaced with 225's when the 198 wore out. I have a couple of sets of 198 rods, and maybe one crank (I would have to look), no complete engines.

Yea, seems like plenty of 170's and 225's but not many of the 198's still around

Ha it's like show me your junk
But yours is smaller then mine

Long story for my 198. Short version: I wanted something different, so I built it with a hydraulic lifter set-up. Runs great with the Holley 2300 carb. I notice the loss of oomph from my 225's, but it is a very smooth motor. It lives in a 65 Dart wagon.

My new to me 74 Duster fender tag says it came with a 198. How can I tell the differences between a 225 and 198 to see if it is still the original 198? Aside from minor carb issues, it runs good...but I plan on installing a 440 I have so won't be keeping the slant six and 3 on the tree but if it has value I won't scrap them

Back in the early 90's I picked up what was already a parts car that was 198 powered... Took what I needed & passed it along... Years later found out it was one of three ever built.... 71 Challenger Deputy 198/904... And if that's not rare enough it was coded as FJ6 Sassy Grass Green... Pretty much making it a one of one...

A friend in Nashville has a 1970 198 pink 'cuda originally a 3 speed on the floor. It has a 4 speed with a pistol grip. Last time he drove it to the Music City Mopar show it got more looks than the Hemi cars. The frame up front needs repairs.

Has anyone ever seen a 198 1971 Demon? It would be very interesting to see one. The base 1971 Demon came with a 198 and a three on the column. I've never seen one.
