Getting ready to install my new light weight hood springs on my 68 Cuda :)
How tight do I wind them ? Do I just slide them on loosely or try to turn them a 1/2 turn or so more more lift tension ? Looks like a ***** to do that .
I got them from a guy on here awhile ago .
Fenders , splash shields , and hinges are off the car
Any tips or tricks guys ?
Thanks
Donnie

I wound mine just the one turn to get it hooked.

I didn't think the hinges would have enough lift by just installing them when they would just slip in , in the relaxed state , So I wound then a 1/2 turn .
The hood is an AAR fiberglass hood with SuperStock scoop.
The hood lifts and closes easily . But when the hood is closed the cowl edge of the hood is being pushed up by the hinges . The hood is flush while I push it down.
I put the factory steel hood on for sheetmetal alignment on the doghouse. And the factory hood has enough weight to hold the hinges down to be flush with the cowl.
I guess I'll change the spring position 1/2 turn looser .
But I don't think that will hold the hood up all the way.

hi i am restoring 1967 barracuda fastback and one of the hood hinges is broken and missing the spring. I was just wondering if u know of any web sites that i can get a complete hinge from

I wish i could help. I do have a question where do you find the light hood springs who sales them. I hope i am not high jacking your tread.

That cuda is looking sweet i like the color too.

I believe user is Atomic Dog or something like that.....

You mean put the hinges in a press to tighten them up ?

No help on the spring tension issue, but Atomic Dog is where I got mine from.....

LOL, I'm not sure the best way to do it, but it seems like the hood is lifting at the pivot point so it needs to be tightened up somehow.
