Locate my 1968 Barracuda Formula S VIN# BH29H8B412316

Looking to locate my 1968 Plymouth Barracuda 383 4speed posi Formula S Fastback. VIN # BH29H8B412316

PPG paint chip book says the color is MM-1 60492 Turbine Bronze.
All Black Interior.
Chrome wheels with baby moon hubcaps red streak tires.

I’m checking with family members to see if they have a picture of it.

Just to clarify — what are you looking for? The actual car with this VIN? When you say "my" Barracuda, that tends to imply that it is in your possession right now. If not, do you have any notion what part of the country it would be in?

When I was in Vietnam I special ordered this vehicle. I was the first owner of it, yes I would like the one with this VIN. If possible I would like to purchase it back. The dealership that delivered my Barracuda was East Colfax Chrysler Plymouth in Denver, Colorado. I used it as a trade at Luby’s Chevrolet also in Denver, Colorado. Both of those dealers are no longer in business.

i love threads like these and nothing warms my tiny black heart more than reacquainting a long lost love.

but for the love of all that is holy why does NOBODY looking for their car include information?!??

it's like we have to pry even the basics out of people.

every little, tiny piece of information you can provide-- no matter how insignificant you may think it is, may be the key to finding what you're looking for.

start here:
who- your name
what- the car and the vin, maybe some description (ie: originally B5 i painted it hemi orange)
when- time frame, the more info here the better
where- locations, names, businesses
why- this is kind of fluid it could be the reason you sold or are now looking for it, or both!

in addition to that, any research or leads you've uncovered or last known whereabouts: i sold the car to Easy Lou in 1973 he was working at the stop and rob on the corner of 5th and main, he sold it to Big Wendy's baby daddy some time in the early 80's, and the last time i saw it was outside the Wet Beaver Saloon in BFE colorado in 1994 1/2, it was still mostly hemi orange with some primer in the quarters and on cenerline wheels. my friend Dirty Larry said he thought he saw it parked behind The Lumber Yard a few times in the early 2000's. it had a hood scoop and weld racing rims at the time.

telling the story of your car and all the dumb, little details-- it had a "**** happens" smiley face sticker on the inside of the glove box-- can frequently jump start somebody's memory and set you on a path to more clues.

Calm down Hero. It's Friday...ease back on the booger sugar a little bit...but you are 100 percent right on. You can't see the vin number from a car that might be in your neighbor's garage or on the side of the road. The big block Formula S certainly narrows it down quite a bit. To the tune of what? around 1,270. The stuff you can see from a distance that hopefully has not changed is important. Color, stripe kit, wheel style is a great place to start if you can't find it on a net search by VIN. If a guy was close enough to see the smiley face sticker in the glove box at one time...that would be the memory jogger for sure!

No joy here! Nothing found on that VIN # accept one place found something and for $15 bucks I could get a report on what it found. I grabbed my credit card paid my $15 bucks and they even charged me an extra $1.15 for taxes! The report said it was an invalid VIN # and should have 18 characters and to check my VIN again!

What a crock of crap! It would be nice if you could find a cop or someone at the DMV that would run the Vin.

Done did that already… No record of it.

Seems like the VIN’s are supposed to be 18 characters long, mine isn’t.

That's bizzare. It has to be somewhere...a big block formula s car is the cat's meow in my book. We have a 67 S commando 273 with factory air. It's rough but all there. I wish you the best with your search. I am sorry the net search did not pan out!

This car was for sale about 10-15 years ago, back when I saved pics of 67-69 Barracudas for sale.
Not a complete VIN, an MM1 383 fastback, but appears to be an auto.

Page is really something else, people offering to 'check on a local car' they know about, or reposting on specific fb pages, etc.

On that fender tag, bottom row far right isn’t those six digits the last part of the VIN? If not, what do those numbers mean? I sure wish I had a picture of my fender tag!

My upholstery was all black on mine.

It's the sequential car number.
Sequential numbers start at 100001 (the first car down that assembly line at the beginning of that model year). Some A-bodies in the early and mid '60s started at 500001.
