lock cylinder

So the other day when unlocking the passenger side door with my key, the cylinder came loose and wiggled out. Any idea how to secure it back in place?

Depending on what we are working on you have to pull the interior door panel off and put the clip back on from the inside.

They look like this.

You will need to take the door panel off to gain access. It is secured with a sliding "U-shaped" retainer.

My guess is that the retainer failed (rusted, broke, or whatever) or simply fell off.

You just need to hold the lock cylinder in place and slide the retainer back in place.
