i have a 68 barracuda and i’m looking for front doors. besides the barracuda make doors, are there any other cars that plymouth have made to interchange the doors on my barracuda. or even suggestions for any other manufacturers in general that may fit with my barracuda. thanks for the help!

Not totally sure what your asking.

But. Many parts from 67-69 Dart, Valient, and Barracuda interchange.

But the door skin contoured are unique to Barracuda.

67-69 should swap but there are differences.

67 and part of 68 the lock button is all the way back on the door. Some part of 68 and 69 it was moved forward.

67 uses a unique vent window assembly. There is a screw under the vent window that is visible on 67 but a plug in a hole for a recessed screw on 68 and 69.

There may be differences between fastback, coupe doors and convertible doors

Hope that helps

No problem we all have to start somewhere. Most of us started before the internet existed so you have a leg up by being able to ask questions like this.

I don't know what you know or don't so I'm going to toss some stuff your way.

MyMopar.com go there and find your year Factory service manual
cllasiccarwiring.com has full color laminated electrical wiring diagrams

Google "Chrysler Master Tech Video" and a word like "Alternator" You can find corny but really useful info about our cars also available at Chrysler Master Tech Service Conference Library – MyMopar

The 1970 Hamtramck Registry Library Page (1970 - 1974) has LOTS of great info

63-66 A bodies (Dart, Barracuda, Valiant) are referred to as "Early A"

67-76 Dart and Valiant, 67-69 Barracuda (70 up Barracuda became an E body) are referred to as "A bodies"

Many to most mechanical parts interchange on A bodies 67-76. Same for Early A years, SOME 66 parts interchange with 67 parts

67-69 A Bodies share 95% of the same parts other than outer body panels and a few internal body panels, 70 things started to get more complicated with ignition, charging, safety features changing over the years.

Kelsey Hays front Disk are 4 piston fixed calipers 63? to 72 many of the parts are the same.

73 on there was a sliding type single piston caliper type front disk.

I almost forgot the 3 single most important things....
  1. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING AWAY. Many of the parts for our cars are unobtanium and a broken part is better then no part
  2. TAKE PHOTOS, LOTS OF PHOTOS, KEEP THEM ORGANIZED.
  3. IF YOU TAKE A PART OFF BAG AND TAG AND MAKE A NOTE OF WHERE THE PART GOES ETC.

Welcome to the fold.

BTW some of us old-timers can be a bit blunt (aka rude) sometimes so take it with a grain of salt. Many questions you will have, have been answered several times before, I would say use the search feature BUT it sucks. If your good a Google you can use Googles search engine and ForAbodiesOnly.com (I know there is a way I just don't recall how its done) and search only FABO

Watch out using Facebook for info. There are people on there who will guide you down a rabbit hole, solving the problem before knowing what the problem is.

The doors would be the same for a fastback, coupe or convertible in the same year, but the window glass would be different. There are minor differences between 67-68-69 doors, as mentioned.

Removing the window glass is probably something you are going to be doing anyway, so if you have good glass and working mechanisms, don't worry about the body style. But it would save you a lot of head-scratching if you just make sure to get 68 doors.

BTW... what's wrong with your doors?
thanks for all the tips! i’ll attach some photos of the doors below. the doors have extensive rust on the top of the door and throughout the door panel. it looks like the person before me tried fiberglass and bondo the doors and body to repair the rust on most of the whole car.

thats great love doing stuff with my kid...........sometimes
its not all fun don't get agravated ...too much

You are making the same mistake alot of neophytes do when they bring back old rusted out Mopars.
That mistake is TO REPLACE instead of REPAIR.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Because of the rarity and astronomical cost of replacing the doors, you should repair them.
Especially since they are the original doors that came with the Car.

Yikes, if you are going to have to do that much sheet metal repair to the entire structure, patching the doors wouldn't be much more work. Good place to practice before taking on the tricky bits around the quarter window. But, personally, I am surprised you are taking this project on, seeing that you are in California. There are certainly better potential project vehicles available in this state. From what I can see on the outside, when you get through all the old bondo and fiberglass, I wonder how much actual metal is left? You may need two full quarters, the dutchman panel and a roof, as well as the usual trunk floor and drop-downs... and we haven't even seen the front end or the other side.

The OP will be learning a ton doing this and if the body ends up being too far gone becomes a parts car.

My assumption, the OP got the car cheap, probably more parts value than cost.

Learning has more value than that car does
Not sure what talent his dad has
