low oil when hot hot idle?

Why would my motor dip in oil pressure when ive driven it for a couple hours on the freeway?

When oil gets hot it tends to thin out. Of course you don't want the pressure to get to low, like less than 10 lb or something. Someone else can give a better number. But if it gets too low, your pump might be getting worn out. Oh, do you have a gauge or the light in the dash? If light, a mechanical gauge would give you a better idea of what your pressure really is. The light is a crap shoot.

rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpm. loose clearances, thin oil, weak oil pump

It will also be a good idea to service the oil pressure relief valve to make sure it's doing its job, as described in these two threads: thread 1, thread 2.

Gauge,or light? Local temp,please.What oil,what ,weight? Big cam? Proper info, correct answer.

Its got everything stock so its a light that reads the pressure. I put 5w30 in it last time I changed it and found out after that I should probably run 10w30. Bomber what do you mean by local temp? And big cam?
