lower panel replacement

replaced the inner trunk extension and the lower panel. decided to shave the side marker lights. butt welding is the way to go. takes a little longer but no lap joints to grow rust.

Nice job. I have to do that next spring on my 66 Dart. I hope it turns out like yours. I am going to butt weld them in also. I have two panels for each side. I was thinking of making them into one first, and go from their.

easy to do. just cut away most of the panel except about 1" from the line. Then clamp the new panel in place and cut through both panels at the same time using a 1/32" zip wheel. The 1/32" space is perfect to just do stitch welds every inch and then go back and fill in a little at a time to help keep the panels from distorting.
