Is it possible to replace a lug stud on the rear with out pulling the axel on a 7 1/4

Yep, pull the wheel and drum, take a wack at the old stud with a 3 lb hammer or bigger, it will pop out inside of the axle. Insert new one from behind and draw it in with a bunch of washers and the lug nut put on backwards until fully drawn into the axle.

Thats the prob the new one wont slide in it is just a bit too long. Im going to take a little off the back side of it and see if that works. Thank you for the info, i was hoping i didnt have to take it all apart just for this

If the lug is a little too long for that, just remove the 4 nuts holding the axle to the housing and pull the axle just enough to get the new lug installed. To pull the axle after the nuts are removed, just put the drum on backwards, run a couple lug nuts on backwards, and use the drum like a slide hammer.
