hi i am getting ready to install a s/c on my slant and i wanted to know if my stock point system is up to the task of lighting 6 to 8 pounds of boost, and where sould i be on timing

Points can light quite a bit If you have any problems with your ignition drop in a later model electronic distributor. As for timing 22 degrees under boost will probably be safe to start but your initial will suck run the vacume advance to get some drive-a-bility back. What are you doing for fuel?
 
I used points as a triger with an msd with over 20 psi of boost. The cast stock pistons will work no problem with 6-8 psi....watch the tune though.
