Hi all
I have just stripped my 360 magnum. The ports look smaller than I remember. Did factory magnum heads vary or are they all the same. Casting number on them is 6017.
I will be chasing hp down the track so was thinking of doing heads now if it's not too dear. The best value for money I have seen are the engine quest heads.
Where is a good place to buy them at a good price.
Thanks

I would think that since they are made in your country it shouldn't be too hard to find them there.
If you need help beyond this, contact magnummopar on here about it.
He says he has the best prices.
Whatever you do, plan on better valves, springs and retainers. (possibly even roller rockers) since there are a lot of choices for those heads.

Beast, thanks! Yes, we have the best prices on EQ period. We also have the correct springs and retainers for larger cam. Stage II $1139 shipped to 48 price so that would includes shipping to freight forwarder.
BTW, the EQ heads are from New Zealand, not AU. They are also proprietary to AAM so I douubt boat stopps in AU on the way home.

Ah, thanks Evan.
I thought they were from AU and not sure why I didn't put that together sooner.
That boat would be LOST! :D
What kind of HP does the stage 2 head support?
I know it's up there pretty high, but don't know the numbers.

Stage II is only a valve spring upgrade, not ported. We dont recommend porting EQ's unless you are going for at least 500 HP. We also dont put 2.02's in intake as I think you loose power over a 1.97. We dont tough the exhaust. We do have them gasket matched or bowl hog on intake only, but thats it. The OOTB heads will make 450+HP without touching them. I see guys put 2.02's in them and dyno at 450 but you never see them dyno with 1.92 or 1.97....ever wonder why?

I would guess because they would run 475-500 with the smaller valve because of velocity?

OH, by the way.
Hit me up if you know of anyone who would like to make a 42RH or 46RH shift up and down fully automatic. (no shift switches to remember to turn off before coming to a stop)
I did mine and have all the part numbers and parts list to make it happen.
Mine just kicks A. :D

There is ONE place I found a kit for it, but theirs isn't capable of adjusting the shift speeds, but just come as set units for OD at 40 or 45 and lockup at 50 or 55.
The switches I used are adjustable from 20-70mph for each shift. (not that anyone would want OD or lockup at 20:D) but they are adjustable.
I set mine at 55 for OD and 65 for lockup.

They also took 5 days to even so much as acknowledge I wanted to order from them, and you know how I am about that kind of thing. :D
So basically they forced me to build a much better kit.

Thanks for the info on the stage 2 EQ heads.

Greg

Thanks for the reply guys. Do you know if the magnum heads were all cast the same? Or some had different port sizes.
The heads I pulled off are in great shape and I was going to reuse them. The engine quest heads are for my other car which is making much more power.
Do you think I would have much advantage using the EQ'S on this engine too? It will only have a small cam which last time I ran it with stock heads I got 360fwhp. Here is the cam
Comp 20-746-9

The EQ heads used to be made in a foundry only 15 minutes from my house here in aussie land before they moved to new Zealand. Wish they were still there.lol

Trailbeast,
My guess is that they make exactly the same or less HP with 2.02 valve and don't post dyno results on 1.92 because they don't make $$$ on installing a stock valve.
We sell the same PEP springs as Hughes 1110 with same "special" retainers, for $150 instead of $199. All our EQ's get a better quality valve than the ones that come from EQ or Jegs etc. Ours are a fully polished PEP valve and of course, they are about 2/3 the price of Hughes.
We would have even more stuff for sale like our early A headers, 67+ headers and plenum plate kit but J and I are both single parents of young children and it takes a lot of time to properly raise kids.
Just got a chance to get some time on the water jet last weekend while my Daughter was visiting Mom for weekend

The EQ's would probably raise your HP by at least 30HP. Possibly 50 but I didn't look at that cam as I hate Comp Cams.

Fair enough,
Unfortunately in Australia we don't have as many options on parts as the usa and next to no magnum stuff at all. I even have to ship intake gaskets from the usa as I can't get them here. It makes it expensive. For example, if I was to ship the EQ heads it will cost me $100 per head plus tax of 10%. So once I get the $1139 plus $200 and convert it to the aussie dollar and ad our tax it's $2061 landed. Not saying the usa parts are expensive, it's just the added shipping that's a pain. But I chose to import a magnum engine so I have to ware it. I just don't see the point in spending my money on a 40 year old aussie la engine but that's just me.
I think you could be right with the hp increase as I remember reading a guy on this for used a cam a tint bit bigger than mine with eq heads and hit the 400hp mark. My cam is fairly small though at

Personally I think the EQ's set up nicely for that is a heck of a deal for good heads.

Oh, there was so a good joke in there, and I'm passing on it. :D

Really? Posts 11 & 12,.. really have no merit... You gathered knowledge, you really don't understand... And you torch an intelligent, business in life, who's giving away, hard working man's info away? Just really?

I think you have miss read the posts. Post 11, Trailbeast says the heads on offer are a heck of a deal. No offence there! Then just finishes with a pun. Post 12 is just me having a sense of humour about the pun. Not the heads.
Not aiming offence at anyone or there business in either of those posts .
