well my block is a magnum 360 and it has an LA timing cover. I'm not using a manual fuel pump so I guess it doesnt matter if I have the fuel pump eccentric. do I need a magnum based cam or an la based cam for my application or does it even matter?? thanks guys.

Shouldn't matter because you don't need a snout extention sence your not running a mech. pump, & sence your useing the LA cover, you have the added room for either cam.

Just find (OR order it custom for a few pennies more) a cam that has the duration (AKA RPM band your driving in) and lift that the current head can handle in terms of flow on a centerline to you needs or likeing.

110 C lines are the norm for performance engines and going lower, ex; 108 - 106 will become choppy in idle to radical. Going up ex 112 - 114 make for a melloer idle.

If you have the magnum block and use magnum type head, everything is there for roller lifters. Roller lifter cam will give easier breakin, no problem wiping lobe on flat tappet cam. Roller cam can give steeper ramps for better idle. The stock magnum roller lifters work well up to 6500 rpm. good luck on decision.

called 4 engine builders and comp cams today , either cam will work in the magnum block, with LA cover. the timing sets also interchange and you can use a neutral balanced la balancer on a magnum crank. if you want to run a mechanical pump you would want to run the LA cam of course. there are alot more cams available for the LA engine, thats why I wanted to run one, otherwise if I needed a magnum cam, my grind was a special order custom grind.
