I currently have the stock kegger style intake on my 2000 EFI 5.9 Magnum, and I had to install a 1 inch spacer between the top kegger mounting flange and the throttle body because the throttle actuating arm hit my aftermarket aluminum fuel rail on the passenger side. You can see it in there below the throttle body. It's red.

This barely left me enough hood clearance to run a full sized factory plastic "hat" to direct the intake air over to a K&N filter. I was lucky and found a thinner version of the plastic hat at the wrecking yard. It's so low profile though, it definitely looks like it restricts the intake air flow.

Now that I'm building an Eddie headed 408 stroker and am swapping out the intake with the Hughes Airgap intake, I'm thinking I need to run the full sized intake air hat to ensure I'm not retricting the intake air flow. The way it is now, it clears my hood when closed, but if the Hughes intake is much taller, and assuming I don't have to run the spacer, I don't know if the taller air hat would hit my hood when closed.

The Hughes Airgap has that adapter that bolts on top of it, so the throttle body can bolt on. I'm assuming the throttle actuator won't hit the aluminum fuel rail with this configuration, so I'm hoping I won't have to use the spacer. That one inch difference would be enough to clear the hood with a full sized air hat, but I haven't been able to mock it up yet.

Does anyone know if the Airgap and adapter flange face sit taller than the stock kegger or if it sits lower?

Thanks!
