Hello, i have the MC from my 73 Duster and i would like to separate it from the push rod... it wont pull apart, what am i doing wrong.... its a manual drum brake car if that matters... thanks Rich

They often are frozen to the piston via old rock hard rubber grommet that locks it in.

If you dont mind pulling the masters guts out..just yank it out by holding it with pliers while smacking the pliers with a rubber mallet on the flat side.
Only other thing you can do without really gutting the master... is torch the end near the master and try and get the rubber soft or melted. This is of course off the car removed from firewall and pedal.

You should have taken the stop light switch off under the dash and pulled out hard on the brake pedal. Take the rod off last. Easy peasy

Thanks for the tips everyone, I’ll give it a try…Rich

If master and rod are out of the car you could try putting some trans fluid into the end the rod goes into. Leave it for a few days and try again
