Greetings all. A few questions:
1. Will the pushrod from a single pot m/c ('65 Valiant) be used in a dual pot m/c?
2. If so, is it held in the same as a dual m/c? The rubber retaining ring?
3. Anyone know the length from the back of the single m/c to the center of the pedal hole?

Planning on doing the upgrade. Have a drum/drum m/c and pushrod from a '72 Scamp on the shelf. I have read in a few threads about using a m/c from a 67 to 69 car.

Thanks for any input. Bruce

I had the same results as you are getting.

Had a concern on one of my race cars.
It is a 1967 Barracuda that came with drum brakes.
It still had the original pushrod that came in it.

The problem I had was no pressure to the rear brakes, fluid would only dribble out.
They brake pedal was low & mushy.
The front brakes would lock up.

I found out the push rod was too short by accident.
My boy left the starting line & the pedal push rod came out of the MC & rested on the outside of the MC piston & the pedal was setting up high.
I asked him how the brakes feel, He said the brakes were the best he has ever had in that car.

I bought a adjustable push rod & fitted it to the length that worked.
Fixed my brakes by doing this.

Also search the forums by master cylinder push rod length.

I have a 66 Barracuda, disc/drum and replaced the single pot on mine a few months ago.

The original push rod could have worked since the dual m/c I bought used the same rubber retainer. I would have needed to re-position the brake light switch closer to the firewall, but I think it would have worked.

I ended up buying an adjustable one from Dr. Diff.
